Fans from Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) Boulogne Kop unveiled a giant 'Free Palestine' banner before their Champions League game against Atletico Madrid last night. It comes eight days before the French national football team prepares to take on Israel at the Stade de France in Paris for a Nations League game next week. The PSG fans' banner featured an image of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Lebanese flag, as Israel launched fresh strikes on Lebanon, killing at least 40 in the country's east on Wednesday. "War on the pitch, but peace in the world," a message underneath the banner said. During the match, they unrolled another message that read: "Does a child's life in Gaza mean less than another?" French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau criticised the unveiling of the giant banner at the football match, saying it was "unacceptable." Asked if he would seek sanctions against PSG, Retailleau told Sud Radio: "I am not ruling out anything. I will demand explanations from PSG." However, PSG said they had not been aware "of any plans to display such a message".
