Over 150,000 children in Gaza received the required second dose of oral polio vaccine in the first two days of the second round of WHO's vaccination campaign. Despite continuing Israeli military operations in some areas of the Palestinian territory, the second round of a polio vaccination campaign, aiming to reach more than 590,000 children under the age of 10, began on Monday. The disease started to spread with Gaza lying in ruins and the majority of its 2.4 million residents forced to flee their homes due to Israel's military assault -- often taking refuge in cramped and unsanitary conditions. After the first confirmed polio case in 25 years, a massive vaccination effort kicked off, targeting at least 90% of children under 10.
