Two Palestinians were killed Friday morning when Israeli forces raided the town of Nablus in the occupied West Bank.

Armed clashes broke out between the town’s resistance fighters and Israeli soldiers, who surrounded houses in search of wanted men in Nablus' Old City, sources told ������’s sister site.

�����������’s Kan broadcaster claimed the two Palestinians killed were responsible for the shooting of an Israeli military convoy days ago.

The two men were identified as Khairy Shaheen and Hamza Maqbool. Their bodies were recovered by the Palestinian Red Crescent, who said they found bullet wounds to their head, face, and other parts of their body.

Israeli forces withdrew from Nablus after the killings.

More Palestinians were wounded in the raid.

Videos shared on social media showed a large crowd of men carrying one of the bodies after the raid.

Friday’s operation is the latest in a series of violent Israeli raids on towns across the West Bank, particularly Jenin, where 12 Palestinians were killed earlier this week.

One Israeli soldier was killed in that large-scale raid.

Jenin and Nablus have been targeted repeatedly for over a year as they have become centres for multiple Palestinian resistance groups.

On Thursday, and in retaliation to that raid, one Israeli soldier was killed near the settlement of Kedumim in the West Bank.

The killing was claimed by Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas.

The violence has further escalated since Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's hardline government took over late last year.

More than 190 Palestinians have been killed since the start of this year, the Palestinian health ministry says.
