Jordan announces engagement of Princess Iman to Greek financier Jameel 'Jimmy' Thermiotis
Princess Iman of is now engaged, the announced on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old daughter of Jordan's and Queen Rania got engaged to Venezuelan-born New York financier Jameel Alexander Thermiotis, 28, who is of Greek descent.
"The Royal Hashemite Court is pleased to announce the engagement of Her Royal Highness Princess Iman bint Abdullah II to Mr. Jameel Alexander Thermiotis, on Tuesday, 5 July 2022", an official statement by the court said, sharing a photo of the couple.
"The Royal Hashemite Court extends its sincere congratulations to Her Royal Highness Princess Iman and Mr. Thermiotis on this occasion and wishes them a lifetime of happiness," the announcement added.
Princess Iman was wearing a high-neck white dress and showed off her square-cut engagement ring by putting her hand on her fiance's chest. She is known for emanating her mother's fashion sense.
"Congratulations my dearest Iman; your smile has always been a gift of love that I’ve cherished since the day you were born. I wish you and Jameel a life filled with love and laughter!" Queen Rania posted on Instagram.
Princess Iman's eldest brother, Crown Prince Hussein, also sent his congratulations.
“Warmest congratulations to my dear sister Iman and to her fiancé Jameel on their engagement. I wish you a lifetime of happiness together.â€
Little is known about Thermiotis, who also goes by the name of Jimmy. Many have speculated that he changed his name to Arabic-sounding Jameel after possibly converting to Islam to be able to legally marry Princess Iman.
Princess Iman is the second-eldest child of Queen Rania, 51, and King Abdullah II, 60. Her siblings are Crown Prince Hussein, 28, Princess Salma, 21, and Prince Hashem, 17. She is the first of her siblings to get engaged.
