AÌýsinger and actor who stars in the Israeli Netflix show 'Fauda' has been severely wounded in fighting in the Gaza Strip on Monday.

Idan Amedi, who plays Sagi Tzur in 'Fauda', was injured when a Israeli army truck carrying ammunition intended for destroying tunnels exploded, according to Israeli publication Walla.

Speaking to Walla! on Monday, Amedi's father stated that his son was severely injured but that his life was no longer in danger. His comments were made before news of the explosion emerged.

WallaÌýalso reported that Amedi had been brought to Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan on Monday afternoon and underwent surgery.

Amedi is the second member of 'Fauda' to become a casualty whilst fighting in Gaza following the death of series production manager Matan Meir in November.

Amedi was a reservist in the Israeli military'sÌýCombat Engineering Corps following his 2006-2009 mandatory service and had been called up as part of Israel's mobilization effort following the surprise Hamas attack on Israel on October 7.

The Israeli military said that the cause of the explosion, which killed six soldiers and wounded eight including Amedi, was not known but added that it was investigating whether it was caused by Israeli tank fire.

As well as the six killed in the explosion, the Israeli military announced the deaths of three other soldiers who had been killed in combat on Monday, bringing the total dead to nine soldiers.

The Israeli army also announced that 27 soldiers had been injured in the last 48 hours of combat, 23 of whom were wounded in the Gaza Strip.

Israel has faced stiff resistance fighting Hamas in the enclave, with 185 soldiers being killed in combat since the beginning of ground operation.

Israel's war on Gaza, which has been ongoing since 7 October, has killed 23,210 Palestinians according to Gaza's health authorities, with a further 59,167 also being injured.
