Assassin's Creed creators plan game set in Iraq capital Baghdad
The creators of the Assassin's Creed series are planning a game set in 's capital city of , sources familiar with the project Bloomberg.
Ubisoft Entertainment had originally planned for the new game, codenamed 'Rift', to be an expansion for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, a game released in 2020, the sources said anonymously because they were not authorised to talk to media.
'Rift' will centre on the backstory of Basim, a character from the Valhalla game who is a Baghdad native.
The game will be set in the ninth century, the sources said.
The game will be smaller in scope than Assassin's Creed Valhalla and focus more on stealth gameplay.
It is planned for later this year or in 2023, the sources added.
The Assassin's Creed series began in 2007. It is one of the highest-selling video game franchises in history.
