This video captures the moment when ambulance and civil defence crews were bombed while evacuating injured citizens under Israeli bombardment in the Mawasi neighborhood, west of Rafah.
A UN report released on October 10 reveals that Israeli forces have deliberately killed, detained, and tortured medical personnel, while targeting medical vehicles amidst a tightening siege on Gaza.
Attacks on medical facilities, particularly those providing paediatric and neonatal care, have resulted in immense suffering for child patients, including newborns. The UN report states that Israel's actions violate children's rights to life and access to essential healthcare, inflicting conditions that threaten the future of generations of Palestinian children.
Over the past year, at least 114 hospitals and clinics across the Gaza Strip have been rendered inoperative, leaving many patients without critical medical services. According to the Gaza Media Office, 34 hospitals and 80 health centres have been put out of service, with 162 health institutions struck by Israeli forces and at least 131 ambulances damaged. Experts argue that such attacks, especially on hospitals treating critically ill patients and infants, constitute war crimes under international law. In total, Israeli assaults have claimed the lives of at least 986 medical workers, including 165 doctors, 260 nurses, and 76 pharmacists, as well as at least 85 civil defense workers among the frontline responders.
