A new book - "The Divider: Trump in the White House 2017 - 2021" claims the former US president expressed fears that Tehran would seek revenge for Qassem Soleimani's killing.
Iranian General Qassem Soleimani was killed along with his Iraqi lieutenant Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis in a US drone strike in Baghdad ordered by then-US President Donald Trump.
"Martyr Soleimani was such a great character that if all American leaders are killed, this will still not avenge his assassination," a senior commander of the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Mohammad Pakpour was quoted as saying by Iranian state media.
The US Justice Department alleged that Shahram Poursafi, also known as Mehdi Rezayi, 45, of Tehran, was likely motivated to kill John Bolton in retaliation for the death of Qassem Soleimani.
The comments from Trump come following media speculation prior to his inauguration that he would apply another round of pressure over Iran's nuclear program.
