Former Bosnian-Serb President Radovan Karadzic will serve the rest of his life sentence in a British prison, said UK Foreign Secretary Tuesday.

"Radovan Karadžić is one of the few people to have been found guilty of . He was responsible for the massacre of men, women and children at the Srebrenica genocide and helped prosecute the siege of Sarajevo with its remorseless attacks on civilians," said Raab, in an official statement released by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.

Karadzic is convicted of war crimes he committed during the 1992-1995 when he was the head of the Republic of Srpska, which today makes up one of the two entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In 2016, he was found guilty on 10 charges of genocide by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.

"Radovan Karadzic is one of the few people to have been found guilty of genocide. Britain has supported the 30-year pursuit of justice for these heinous crimes, Raab said on his Twitter account.
