Scarlet Envy wows on RuPaul's Drag Race with dress by Lebanese designer
Drag queen superstar Scarlet Envy has taken to Twitter to thank fellow Lebanese drag queen Anya Kneez for creating the dress she wore on the latest episode of .
“What I love most about this look is how it is made by a , Lebanese designer who has never designed for @RuPaulsDragRace! Anya Kneez made my promo too, & she is largely credited for growing the drag scene in Beirut. This collab!!!” he wrote.
Kneez designed a flowing, roman style dress, featuring a print of the painting Birth of Venus by 19th century French painter William-Adolphe Bouguereau.
“Ru-demption look for @scarletenvy designed and made by yours truly!! I am so happy to see my work on such a global platform and I am so proud to be a part of Scarlet’s all stars journey,” wrote Kneez on Instagram, posting a picture of the dress.
The dress was worn by Envy for the runway section of the competition, the theme of which was “Rudemption Runway”, and helped her to secure her place going forward in the contest.
Fellow competitor Silky Nutmeg Ganache was eliminated from the competition.
Kneez is known for being one of the first drag queens in Beirut, which despite its liberal nature, still harbours a number of conservative attitudes.
