Saudi teenager defeats Israeli rival at Kenya tennis competition

A tennis pro triumphed two sets to nil against an rival before pulling out through a stomach bug at a global competition in Kenya.

Saudi Arabia's Yara Alhogbani, 17,Ìýtook on Israel's Rene Naishtut NikishovÌýat the Nairobi tournament, winning the first set 6–0 and the second 6–2, UAE outlet Al-Emarat Al-Youm reported on Friday.

AlhogbaniÌýwas then setÌýto play UK's Jadesola Cole in the competition's quarterfinals. However, she lost in a after pulling out due to a tummy bug and elevated body temperature.

"I appreciate all the support from everyone," Alhogbani on Twitter on Friday.

"You have no idea how much this means to me. InshAllah [God willing] I continue to make my country proud."

The teenageÌýtennis up-and-comer is youngest professional in the sport, the Saudi Gazette said.

She has played for her country on numerous occasions, including the Islamic Solidarity Games.
