Qatari woman will head delivery of Apache choppers from US
First Lieutenant Mariam Yousef from the Qatar Emiri Air Force has been stationed at Redstone Arsenal since September and will "support a foreign military sales case for Apache helicopters", according to Dvids.
Qatar received the first of 24 APACHE-64 ECO helicopters from the US in March.
Yousef praised the edition of the sophisticated Apache helicopter to its fleet, Arabi21 reported.
"Receiving the Apache helicopters is a turning point in the capacity of attack helicopters in the Qatari armed forces," the new liaison officer is quoted as saying on the American Central Command Facebook.
While stationed at Redstone in the new role, Yousef will be handling "all things Apache".
"My career began when I took a position at Gulf Helicopters Company in Doha," Yousef told Dvids.
"After my initial experience and on-the-job training, I became a licensed engineer working in the helicopter maintenance department and rated on the AgustaWestland AW-139 helicopter. I was promoted to the position of engineering technical instructor in the Training Department within Gulf Helicopters and then I spent two years as the deputy manager of the Training Department."
The US State Department cleared a potential $3 billion sale in May of 24 additional Apache helicopters, which would double the Qatari Air Force's fleet.
