On Monday, 18 September, the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate condemned what they described as the "deliberate targeting" by Israeli soldiers of Palestinian journalists during recent coverage of protests in the eastern Gaza Strip.

In a press statement sent to , the syndicate condemned "the direct targeting of fellow journalists for the second time while they were performing their professional duty to cover the marches on the border."

"The deliberate targeting led to the injury of three journalists, namely fellow photographer Fadi Al-Danaf, photographer Bilal Al-Sabaa, and colleague Mustafa Hassouna," the syndicate said.

The syndicate stressed "the need to stop all these attacks...launched by [Israel] against journalists to attempt to prevent media coverage of the occupation's crimes and the direct targeting of civilians and young people on the border."

The Journalists Syndicate called on the International Federation of Journalists and all international institutions concerned with freedom of journalistic work to "clearly reject and condemn the occupation's practices".
