Michael Moore backs Gaza film 'From Ground Zero' amid US release

Co-produced by Metafora Production, which is part of Fadaat Media group alongside The New Arab, 'From Ground Zero'Ìýis a collection of short films created by 22 Palestinian filmmakers living through Israel's war on Gaza.
The film combines animation, documentary and fiction, aiming to showcase the resilience of the human spirit and the enduring power of creativity in the face of ongoing devastation, according to its producers.
Coordinated and funded by director Rashid Masharawi, the film was released in the US by Watermelon Pictures on 3 January.
Moore, who won the Oscar for his pioneering documentary 'Bowling for Columbine', called the film a "cinematic miracle".Ìý
"These Palestinian filmmakers have accomplished a cinematic miracle. They have made a brilliant film in the midst of what Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have now declared a genocide," the filmmaker toldÌýVariety.Ìý
"The only weapons that Rashid and these 22 courageousÌýPalestinian directors in Gaza have are their cameras and their creativity.ÌýNo filmmaker, writer or artist should ever have to tell the story of their own extermination. It’s an honor to stand in solidarity with them and help share their stories with the world," he added.Ìý
On his Moore shared the trailer for the film and wrote he was "proud to be Executive Producer on this acclaimed movie", further stating that the film brings US viewers the truth that the media fails to cover.Ìý

"With Michael Moore’s involvement, we are even more empowered to portray the humanity and resilience of Palestinians, share their creativity with the world and showcase the power of cinema as a force for justice and understanding."
