A man was arrested after crossing into Lebanon from Israel Monday morning, the Israeli army and Lebanese media reported.

"This morning, a person was spotted crossing the border from Israel into Lebanon," the Israeli army said, without providing further details on the individual.

Lebanese media said the man crossed the Blue Line and entered the village of Dhayra, where he was arrested by the Lebanese army and is under investigation.

The Lebanese army had not released a statement by the time of publication.

The Blue Line refers to the UN-demarcated border between the enemy states after Israel withdrew from southern Lebanon in 2000.

The man came from the old Palestinian village of Khurbet Arrubin, Lebanese media added. The village was replaced by an Israeli settlement after the 1948 Nakba, in which tens of thousands of Palestinians forced out of their land when Israel was created.

On Sunday, the Israeli army shot at two Syrian hunters that were reportedly close to the occupied Golan Heights border, killing one of them.

Israel had initially claimed they were trying to cross into the territory from Syria.
