Lebanese singer Hiba Tawaji is the voice of Jasmine in new Aladdin film
The 31-year-old, who is known for playing the main female role in some of the most renowned Rahbani musicals, was introduced by the president of Walt Disney in France after a screening of the premiere in Le Grand Rex theatre in Paris.
She gave a live performance of two songs from the film in French, "Speechless" and "Ce Rêve bleu", which were received by the audience with a huge ovation.
Aladdin's plot is drawn from a centuries-old Middle Eastern folk tale that features in the Arabian Nights and was retold in a 1992 Disney cartoon.
It is the story of a street urchin who finds a magic lantern containing a genie and falls in love with a rebellious princess, Jasmine.
Directed by Guy Ritchie, the 2019 remake stars Hollywood heavyweight Will Smith as the genie, English actress Naomi Scott as Jasmine and Canadian-Egyptian Mena Massoud as Aladdin.
