Ukraine repels attack by Russia's Iran-made drones: officials
Sixteen Iranian-made drones were used to attack Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian military, all of which were repelled.

Russia attacked Ukraine with severalÌýIranian-made drones overnight on Friday, according to Ukrainian officials.Ìý

All 16 drones - seven of which targeted the capital Kyiv - were destroyed, according to the Ukrainian military.Ìý

No casualties were reported in Kyiv, but Mayor Vitali Klitschko said windows in two buildings were damaged.Ìý

The drone attacks came a day after Russia launched more than 180 strikes at its western neighbour targeted at energy infrastructure, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky.Ìý

The attack came from "various directions with air and sea-based cruise missiles", according to the military, and added that several "kamikaze" drones had also been used.

Most strikes were repelled, but they resulted in power cuts in Kyiv, Odessa, Kherson and Lviv, according to Zelensky.Ìý

Iran has been accused of aiding Russian forces in its war on Ukraine, a charge it has denied. The United States has alleged thatÌýIranian trainers were on the ground to assist Russian troops in October.
