Japan will do the utmost to limit the economic impact to itself from the fall-out from the Ukraine crisis, including by ensuring a stable supply of energy.
"The economic sanctions against Russia will not directly obstruct energy supply," Kishida said.
For resource-poor Japan, the most immediate impact of the crisis is likely to be seen in rising fuel prices. Kishida said Japan had about 240 days' worth of crude oil reserves and reserves of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to last two to three weeks, and that the government and that the government would step up measures to stem a rise in retail fuel prices.Ìý
