An 70-year-old Palestinian man was seriously injured on Wednesday after an Israeli police vehicle ran him over in the village of Umm al-Khair in the 

The elderly man, identified as Suleiman Al-Hathalin, was trying to prevent the entry of Israeli forces into the village, which lies in the Masafer Yatta area, south of , when he was struck by the vehicle.

Fuad Al-Amour, a coordinator in the Protection and Resistance Committee of Masafer Yatta, told °®Âþµºâ€™s Arabic-language service: "Al-Hathalin is known for standing up to raids by the [Israeli] occupation forces."

"When the occupation police stormed his village, Umm Al-Khair, he went out to stand up to them but an Israeli police vehicle deliberately ran him over, seriously wounding him," he said.

Al-Amour added that the man was taken to hospital to be operated on but was still in danger.

Elsewhere in the West Bank on Wednesday, residents of the village of Qariout clashed with Israeli settlers who attacked the village well and agricultural facilities.

Settlers under the protection of Israeli army forces also stormed the town of Sabsatiya, northwest of Nablus, entering an archaeological area in the town.
