The Islamic Resistance in Iraq coalition on Friday targeted Israeli military positions in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, the group said, promising more operations.

The group used Arqab cruise missiles to attack "vital targets in our occupied land", saying the move was "in support of our people in Palestine and Lebanon and in response to the massacres that the usurping entity [Israel] is committing against children, women, and the elderly".

In another statement, the group carried out another strike in the Golan Heights using a cruise missile, warning that it would continue targeting positions "with increasing frequency".

The Iraqi Islamic Resistance is made up of several pro-Iranian armed Iraqi factions, having previously targeted US bases in Iraq and Syria it has since launched rockets and drones at Israel since the Gaza war broke out.

On Thursday, it struck the Israeli port of Eilat, causing damage and injuring two people, as Israel carried out massive air raids on Lebanon.

When Israel intensified its bombardment earlier this week, the Islamic Resistance said that it was ready to deploy thousands of fighters to Lebanon in support of Hezbollah, another Iran-aligned group.

At least 700 people have been killed in Israel’s bombing of Lebanon this week, with over 200,000 more fleeing their homes.

Nine members of one family, including four children, were killed in an Israeli strike on the southern Lebanese town of Shebaa on Friday morning.
