'Camels and things': Euphoria actor under fire for 'racist' comments about Morocco
HBO's Euphoria star Dominic Fike came under fire recently for making "racist" comments about Morocco and Africa in an interview during Yves Saint Laurent men's fashion show held in Morocco on 15 July.
"It's actually very weird they have got all the camels and things. Exactly as I imagined. We are in Africa right?" the 26-year-old artist had said while answering a reporter's questions regarding the actor's first visit to Morocco.
His statements came to light on Sunday as the WWD magazine shared a video of the exchange. The fashion account soon deleted the video after hundreds of Moroccans flocked to the WWD's Instagram account, calling out the actor for his "ignorant", "racist", and "Orientalist" comments.
"Africa is not a country. We have camels but we have other things. Educate yourself!" wrote an Instagram user under a recent post on Fike's official Instagram account.

Other fans have said that the actor's comments are merely a result of a stereotypical picture Hollywood painted of the MENA region, depicting it as rife with deserts and camels or war-torn.
Fike has not commented on the outcry as of yet.
In the hazy Agafay desert, near Marrakech, around 300 celebrities, including Euphoria's Fike, attended Yves Saint Laurent's men's fashion show.
Models entered from two high-shine metallic boxes and walked around an enormous ring of light in a Dune-like ambience.
Morocco's Marrakech has been Yves Saint Laurent's muse from 1966 until he passed away in 2008. He reportedly fell in love with the city for its sense of calm and beauty, where he designed many of his iconic collections and found solitude away from swinging Paris.
