A Canadian comedian has claimed that she and fellow travellers were subjected to maltreatment by staff as well as threats of arrest by  workers.

In a viral video on Instagram posted at an early hour on Friday, comedian and influencer Maya Hussein alleged that she and the passengers, including elderly and children, were forced to stay onboard a plane for three hours with no ventilation or water.

"We were trying to take a flight on EgyptAir from Cairo to , spending at the airport for almost six hours. They left us inside the plane for about three hours in the heat. [Passengers] were sweating and not breathing," Hussein claimed in the video.

The passengers finally exited flight MS 995 but spent more hours at the airport.

"We had to run and get ice and water… It took them 45 minutes to get us water. We have no access to speak to our families. They are not giving us Wi-Fi. There are people [lying] on the ground…I’m begging for help," Hussein said in the video.

She claimed those who objected to the wait were threatened with prosecution by airport officials.

When contacted by °®Âþµº, a civil aviation ministry official said she had no knowledge of the incident.

Neither Hussein nor EgyptAir officials could be reached for comment at the time of publishing.
