As negotiations to reach a humanitarian truce agreement in the coastal enclave linger on, the Israeli army is intensifying ground and air attacks on the Gaza Strip, killing and wounding dozens of people every single day.Ìý

The Israeli army is deliberately attacking residential houses, tents and schools which turned as shelters in the besieged coastal enclave. Meanwhile, Israel is continuing its large-scale military operation in the north of Gaza, according to Palestinian sources.Ìý

Ismail Thawabta, the head of the Palestinian government media office in Gaza, said to °®ÂþµºÌýthat the Israeli army "killed at least 115 Palestinians during the latest 48 hours; most of them were children and women."Ìý

"The army committed seven horrific massacres against Palestinians in Gaza. In Beit Hanoun town in the north of Gaza, the Israeli army killed at least 43 Palestinians after storming Khalil OweidaÌýschool that was residing thousands of displaced people," he said.Ìý

In central Gaza, Thawabta noted, "The Israeli army killed about 42 Palestinians by attacking some residential houses in al-Nuseirat refugee camp on Saturday night."Ìý

Moreover, the Israeli army killed four other Palestinians, including a cameraman, by attacking a site belonging to the Palestinian civil defence, according to Thawabta.Ìý

Meanwhile, the army killed about 25 displaced Palestinians by attacking a sheltering school in Khan Younis City in the south of Gaza.Ìý

"Not only attacking the locals but also the Israeli army is deliberately adopting a systematic starvation policy on more than 2.2 million people, by closing the crossing borders and preventing the entry of aid and food, which deepened the humanitarian crisis in the Strip," he said.Ìý

Palestinian death toll passes 45,000 as negations go onÌý

The Gaza-based Palestinian health ministry said in a press statement that the death toll of Palestinians in Gaza has surpassed 45,000, with the injuries approaching at least 107,000.

"During the last 24 hours, the Israeli army committed seven massacres, killing 52 people and wounding 203," the ministry said in a press release.Ìý

As a result, the number of deaths in Gaza increased to 45,028 and the wounds to 106,962, according to the ministry.Ìý

At the same time, Israeli media outlets claims that there is "significant progress" in the indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel for a ceasefire in Gaza.

The Israeli Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported on Saturday that a senior Israeli official noted that there is progress in the negotiations with Hamas, which means that a ceasefire in Gaza would be witnessed 'soon'.Ìý

"The possibility that the agreement will be implemented in stages, starting during the term of US President Joe Biden and extending to President-elect Donald Trump," the Yedioth Ahronoth ³¦±ô²¹¾±³¾±ð»å.Ìý

The official added that the Israeli cabinet was informed by the leaders of the Mossad and Shin Bet that Hamas "expressed its willingness to reach a deal" and that estimates indicate the possibility of reaching an agreement "within a few weeks."

For its part, the Israeli channel i24NEWS reported that a deal is expected to be reached and implemented "in stages starting at the end of Biden's term and extending to Trump's term."

"We are at a stage where we need to make decisions that will determine the fate of the talks. We can assume that we will know within days whether the deal can be implemented," the Israeli Haaretz also reported.Ìý

Palestinians on the ground have no hope for ceasefire

Bassem Naim, a senior official of Hamas, told TNAÌýthat his movement is involving now in indirect negotiations with Israel to reach a deal that would end the "Israeli aggression" on Gaza.Ìý

However, he stressed that his movement is sticking to its basic demands it has during previous rounds of negotiations, including the implementation of a permanent ceasefire, the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, and the right of internally displaced Palestinians in Gaza to return to their homes.

"We are ready to show some flexibility in implementing our demands but not end-cancel them as Israelis claimed," he said.Ìý

Naim believes that the next US administration, led by President-elect Donald Trump, could positively influence the situation. He argued that Trump has made stopping wars in the region part of his election campaign platform.

In separate interviews with TNA, Palestinians expressed hopelessness that they would witness any humanitarian truce in as the Israeli army continues its crimes in the Gaza Strip.

Mohammed Alian from the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip said that every time "there is talk about the possibility of reaching a ceasefire, the Israeli army intensifies its crimes against civilians."

"There are thousands of people who were hoping to witness a ceasefire, but the Israeli army killed them in cold blood," he lamented.Ìý

Wafa Bashir, who lives in a temporary tent in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, articulated the same sentiment.Ìý

"We die here a thousand times, and no one cares about us [...] The Israeli army is killing us, our political leadership is preoccupied with its illusions and partisan ambitions, and the world is preoccupied with Christmas," she told TNA.Ìý
