According to a new report from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), more than 11 million people have been displaced in Sudan due to the ongoing war in the country. This number roughly equates to the population of the greater urban areas of London or Paris. Over the last three months, the conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary has driven an estimated 143,000 people out of El Fasher, North Darfur state. Sudan has the largest internally displaced population in the world, with an estimated 20% of Sudanese people being displaced since mid-April last year when violence between the SAF and RSF broke out. A large number of the displaced come from the capital Khartoum and its surrounding cities, where the conflict is the deadliest.
