A devastating Israeli airstrike killed five journalists from Al-Quds Today in Gaza on Thursday.
The team was reporting near al-Awda Hospital when their clearly marked press van was struck. Among the victims was Ayman al-Jadi, who was tragically waiting for his wife, in labour with their first child, when the attack occurred.
The Israeli military claims the strike targeted members of Islamic Jihad, but evidence shows the journalists were clearly identified, sparking outrage over the targeting of press in conflict zones.
According to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), 141 journalists have lost their lives since the conflict began on October 7, 2023, raising urgent questions about press safety and accountability.
