One month after a ceasefire was declared, Israel continues its aggressive operations in southern Lebanon, raising tensions and threatening regional stability.
Despite the agreement stipulating Israeli withdrawal within 60 days, Lebanese villages remain under attack, with homes dynamited and borders militarised. Lebanon’s Prime Minister Najib Mikati has called on the US and France to enforce the agreement, accusing Israel of deliberate delays in pulling out its forces.
Mikati has urged international allies to act swiftly to prevent further escalation and ensure Lebanon's army and peacekeepers can take over as planned.
This truce, in effect since November 27, follows over a year of cross-border hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah. The conflict, which started with the war in Gaza, has taken a devastating toll on Lebanon, resulting in over 3,600 deaths and widespread destruction.
As tensions rise, the people of southern Lebanon continue to endure violence and uncertainty, waiting for peace to become a reality.
