Twelve years since the death of Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi, a lookalike of his has been spotted roaming the streets of Bani Walid amidst 54th-anniversary celebrations of the al-Fateh Revolution.
In videos widely circulated on social media, Gaddafi's doppelganger appeared in an open-top car wearing Gaddafi-like costumes, imitating how he styled his hair and greeted the gathering crowds that cheered and tried to take pictures with him.
Although the Gaddafi lookalike was not the first of its kind, social media users were divided over his rule and nostalgia for him. In contrast, others used sarcasm to remind people of the negatives caused to Libya under his rule.
