An online video craze that started in American high schools has reached the Mosul frontline.

Everyone has done it, from the Kardashians to US First Lady Michelle Obama - and now Iraqi troops took a brief stop - literally - from battling Islamic State to present their own Mannequin Challenge.

The video craze, in which a group of people freeze themselves in various poses - some quite elaborate - while a camera pans around the scene, went viral at the start of November, with thousands across the world posting their own attempts online.

The music heard playing in the background of most clips - including Iraq's version - is Rae Sremmurd's Black Beatles featuring Gucci Mane.

The Mosul video was posted on Twitter by Iraqi news and lifestyle website .

The 47-second video shows four members of Iraq's Federal Police in their fatigues and bullet proof vests posing on a rooftop at dusk with their rifles pointing out towards a deserted neighbourhood.
