CROATIA WIN 4-3 ON PENALTIES!

Well well well. Clinical penalties from Croatia and costly mistakes from Brazil have meant that Croatia are through to the semi finals of the Qatar World Cup. 

Grit and determination pulled off this upset against the World Cup's most successful side in history. 

Madness. We're through to penalties. After Croatia buried their first shot on target in the entire match 5 minutes from time. 

We'll bring you the result here. 

CROATIA HITS BACK!

Brazil 1 - 1 Croatia. 

At the death, Croatia level through the sheer bloody-minded persistence of Bruno Petkovic firing low into Allison's net via a lucky deflection. 

Brazil will be devastated. This looks set for penalties - we'll keep you updated. 

Here we go. Last 15 minutes. 

BRAZIL SCORE IN EXTRA TIME!

Finally. Neymar turns his magic on and the whole Croatian team inside out to surge through the defence with some crisp one-twos and buries the ball in the back of the net. 

Now. Brazil have 15 more minutes to hold onto their slender lead - as Croatia have to upend their game plan and really come at Brazil.

The stoppable force meets the movable object here. Neither team have shone - they're cancelling each other out and it's been a cagey affair. 

Croatia seem happy to see this through to penalties, their chances have been very few and far between. Brazil pressing harder now.

It's been a cagey, finely poised this first half. Croatia have really taken the game to Brazil and are refusing to be rolled over here - but struggling for that quality in the final third. 

Brazil, on the other hand, have shown flashes of brilliance through Neymar and Vinicius Junior, but struggled to really break down Croation resolve. 

This one looks like it might be a long old game. 

Looking ahead to tomorrow's huge quarter final - Morocco against Portugal - there are two key men whose place in the starting line up are far from confirmed.Ìý

For Morocco, stalwart defender Nayef Aguerd but is still being treated for an intense thigh injury.Ìý

And then there's Ronaldo. Subdued so far in the World Cup, and left on the bench against Switzerland, he's still a maybe for Portugal.Ìý

Brazil coach Tite has named an unchanged starting line-up for Friday's World Cup quarter-final against Croatia as Neymar retains his place following his return from an ankle injury in the previous round.

Neymar scored from the spot in the 4-1 win over South Korea in the last 16 on Monday, with Vinicius Junior, Richarlison and Lucas Paqueta also on target in the game.

Croatia, runners-up in 2018, make two changes from their last-16 victory on penalties over Japan.

Coach Zlatko Dalic brings Borna Sosa back into the side at left-back after illness, replacing Borna Barisic, while Mario Pasalic starts in place of Bruno Petkovic.

Real Madrid's veteran Luka Modric, 37, captains the side as they look to cause a major upset against the World Cup favourites.
