Protests near Nablus after Israel policeman kills unarmed Palestinian

Palestinians in Huwara in the occupied West Bank on Friday protested the cold-blooded killing of an unarmed Palestinian man by an Israeli border guard.

Shopkeepers in Huwara, a town close to Nablus, went on strike in response to the killing, Arabi 21 .

The man killed was 23-year-old Ammar Hamdi Nayef Mufleh, the Palestinian health ministry .

Video shared by Palestinian news sites on Friday showed an Israeli border guard repeatedly shoot Nayef at point-blank range after scuffling with him as he tried to detain him.

Palestinian armed resistance groups, including Lions' Den, vowed to take revenge for Mufleh's murder, as well as for the loss of its fighters at the hands of Israeli forces. Palestinian militants subsequently entered with Israeli soldiers in Nablus on Friday night.

Earlier on Friday, Israeli forces had stormed Nablus, shooting a Palestinian man and detaining a youth.

Israeli forces have carried out near-daily, often deadly raids on Palestinian cities in the West Bank since March.

The European Union  on Friday that it was "gravely concerned" by events in the occupied territory.

"In the last 72 hrs alone 10 Palestinians were killed by ISF in what appears to be an excessive use of lethal force," the EU delegation to the Palestinians said.

It said 140 Palestinians had been killed in the West Bank in 2022, making it the deadliest year there since 2006.
