Israel detained more than a dozen Palestinians in the occupied West Bank including East Jerusalem on Monday, according to local reports.
They were largely detained during early morning raids, and include six taken in when Israeli forces entered Nablus and killed Amir Bustami, a young Palestinian man.
Near Ramallah, a mother and son were detained by Israeli forces who "ransacked" their home, the official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported.
A third Palestinian was also detained near Ramallah, this time in the village of Mazraa al-Gharbiya.
Israeli forces raided the town of Jaba near Jenin, detaining one Palestinian and "ransacking several houses", according to Wafa.
There were also several detained in East Jerusalem, with Israeli forces taking in an additional Palestinian in each of the Dheisheh and Ein as-Sultan refugee camps.
Raids by Israeli forces in the West Bank have been near nightly since last spring.
They are often deadly, as in Nablus on Monday where Israeli forces besieged a residential building that had Palestinian fighters inside, according to media reports.
Fighting erupted for four hours, with the sound of gunfire and explosions heard throughout Nablus, °®Âþµº's Arabic sister service Al-Araby Al-Jadeed reported.
Bustami was killed and at least seven people were wounded. It was not clear if he had been involved in the shootout.
Among the injured were two youths Israeli forces detained after they were shot near the besieged building, Palestinian Red Crescent emergency and ambulance director Ahmad Jibril said.
With Bustami's death, the number of Palestinians killed so far this year by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank including East Jerusalem has risen to 47, according to a count by °®Âþµº. It means an average of more than one Palestinian killed per day.
The bloody start to 2023 comes after nearly 150 Palestinians were killed in those territories by Israeli forces in 2022, making it the deadliest year there since 2004, according to leading Israeli rights group B'Tselem.
