authorities handed a well-known journalist a three-year suspended prison sentence on Sunday for "insulting the emir".
The court ruling against Fajr Al-Saeed comes after a complaint was submitted by political activist Abdullah Fairouz to media prosecution authorities, °®Âþµº's Arabic sister service, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, reported.
He did so following separate comments Al-Saeed made on Twitter and on a programme she presented on YouTube.
"There is no objection to the judicial rulings. Allah has decreed and what he wills, he does," Al-Saeed tweeted on Sunday after the ruling, though she seemed to suggest she could appeal the decision.
Al-Saeed is controversial in Kuwait, having previously expressed her support normalising relations with .
Al-Saeed recently announced her retirement from politics, coinciding with an electoral defeat in Kuwait.
She finished in 23rd place with 625 votes in her district.
