The eldest daughter of  Jordan's King Abdullah and his wife Queen Rania married on Sunday at a televised ceremony attended by some leading Gulf royals and family friends.

Princess Iman, 26, and New York-based financier from a prominent Greek family Jameel Alexander Thermiotis, 28, tied the knot in an Islamic ceremony held at the Beit Al-Urdon Palace.

The bride and groom read a verse from the Quran after signing the marriage document during the ceremony, which was shown live on Jordan TV.

The engagement of Iman to Thermiotis, who was born to a Greek family in Venezuela, had been announced last summer but the date of the marriage was set only last week.

King Abdullah's eldest son Crown Prince Hussein is set to marry Rajwa Al-Saif, the youngest daughter of Saudi businessman Khaled Al-Saif on 1 June.
