The new Marvel film '' has been banned from cinemas across Jordan, local daily reported on Friday, citing an unnamed "official source" in the Media Commission - a government body regulating the media sector in Jordan.
According to the same source, the ban on Marvel's latest film follows the authorities unsuccessful attempt to get the film producer to remove certain scenes, considered "immoral", from the version to be screened in Jordanian cinemas.
On social media, many Jordanians expressed frustration and disappointment at the news. Through this ban, Jordan follows in the steps of other Arab states including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Egypt.
While the Jordanian media commission did not provide an official justification for the ban, Egypt apparently banned banned the film because it features an openly gay character, a source from its censorship authority told °®Âþµº's Arabic-language sister site two weeks ago.
