A Jewish man has been violently knocked to the ground by an Israeli police officer in the Mea Shearim neighbourhood of Jerusalem, which is inhabited mainly by ultra-Orthodox Jews.

The incident took place on Wednesday during a raid to take down Palestinian flags in the neighbourhood, according to the Torah Judaism account on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

Many of the ultra-Orthodox residents of the neighbourhood are anti-Zionist and do not recognise Israel, expressing support for a Palestinian state instead.

A video reportedly showed an Israeli officer walking towards an ultra-Orthodox Jewish man before beating him and causing him to fall to the ground.

In the resulting commotion, the same officer grabs another Jewish man and forces him inside a building, hitting him in the face.

"Police violence against ultra-Orthodox Jews continues constantly. Zionists constantly attack Jews. This must stop," the anti-Zionist Jewish group said on X.

"The only crime of these Jews is that they stand with the Palestinian people and are against Zionism."

The video was posted amid heightened tensions across Palestine and Israel as the Israeli military carries out a devastating and indiscriminate war against the besieged Gaza Strip, so far killing over 9,000 people, including more than 3,760 children.
