Israeli forces detained a number of Palestinians across the occupied West Bank early on Saturday, as Palestinians marked "Martyrs’ Day".

At the southern entrance of Jericho, a child was seriously injured after reportedly being shot in the head by Israeli forces during confrontations with locals on Friday evening.

Soldiers arrested two men during a raid in Beit Rima, northwest of Ramallah. They are the father and cousin of Bilal al-Barghouthi, who Israeli forces are searching for.

Four other men were arrested in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, after clashes with residents which involved stun grenades and tear gas.

Israeli soldiers also stormed the city of Jenin and deployed in multiple locations, including the outskirts of the town’s refugee camp.

They reportedly withdrew shortly after.

In Al-Arroub camp, south of Bethlehem, clashes also took place between young men and Israeli forces.

Palestinians allegedly threw Molotov cocktails at an Israeli watchtower in the camp, according to a video widely shared on social media.

On Thursday, Israeli forces killed 16-year-old Amer Abu Zeitoun in the West Bank city of Nablus after clashes with Palestinian resistance fighters known as Lions’ Den.

Earlier in the week, 15-year-old Adam Essam Shaker Ayyad was also killed in Bethlehem

Last month, the United Nations said 2022 had been the deadliest year in the occupied West Bank since its records began in 2005, with more than 150 Palestinians killed and dozens more detained.

The inauguration last week of the most right-wing government in Israel's history has sparked fears of a military escalation in Occupied Palestinian Territories.
