Global condemnations of Israel's bombing of an UNRWA school continued on Friday, with Egypt slamming what it called a 'clear violation of international law'.

Israel intensified its raids on the Nuseirat camp on Thursday night, with reports of at least 40 Palestinians killed in attacks across the Gaza Strip.

Global condemnations of Israel's bombing of a UNRWA school continued, with Egypt slamming what it called a "clear violation of international law".

The strike on Wednesday killed 18 people at a school-turned-shelter for displaced Palestinians, including six UN employees. The attack on the UN-run Al-Jawni school in Nuseirat flattened an entire section of the building, leaving only a charred heap of rebar and concrete.

Negotiations to end Israel's war on the Palestinian enclave continue to stall, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday claiming that Israel had accepted a US-backed proposal on 16 August and accusing Hamas of rejecting the offer.

The Israeli leader has come under increased pressure domestically to secure a deal to release the remaining Israeli captives, however has shifted the focus of talks to his insistence that Israel maintains a military presence on the Philadelphia Corridor between Egypt and Gaza â€” a demand both Cairo and Hamas have rejected.
