Ford Motor Company's official X account has posted pro-Palestinian messages in what is believed to be a cyber breach.
The official account for the auto giant sparked speculation after a series of posts unrelated to Ford's usual content appeared on its feed on Monday.
The unauthorised posts, which were swiftly deleted, included phrases such as "Free Palestine" and "Israel is a terrorist state". The statements referenced Israel's ongoing offensive in Palestine, which killed more than 45,500 people since 7 October 2023.
Calling for global attention on the Gaza Strip, where Israel's military actions have caused an ongoing humanitarian crisis, one post said: "ALL EYES ON GAZA".
Acknowledging the incident, the car manufacturer said: "Our X account was briefly compromised, and three posts were made that were not authorised or posted by Ford. They do not represent the views of Ford Motor Company. Ford and X are investigating this breach."
Screenshots of the now-deleted posts containing Palestinian flags spread rapidly on social media, sparking speculation about the motives behind the alleged hack.
Democratic Representative from New York, Richie Torres, attributed the cyber breach to the 'Free Palestine movement'.
In a post on X, Torres said: "Ford Motor Company must have been hacked by the Free Palestine movement."
The company, which continues to trade in Israel, has supplied the Israeli military with Ford's SandCat Tigris 4x4 armoured vehicles.
According to Israel Defence, Israeli military company Plasan produced hundreds of these models which later took part in several deadly offensives in Gaza on 22 October.
Although it is not clear how many SandCats are currently operating within the Israeli forces, reports claim there could be as many as 700.
