Egyptian-Canadian A-list actor Mena Massoud has admitted that he hasn't had a single audition since starring in the blockbuster Disney hit Aladdin.

Massoud starred in the lead role in Guy Ritches reboot of the animated classic Aladdin, released in May and which went on to make a $1 billion worldwide.

Despite the movie's success, Massoud says its "not always dandelions and roses".

Speaking to The Daily Beast the actor expressed his frustrations that the role in Aladdin did not lead to more movie opportunities despite the film's commercial success.

Born to Egyptian parents, the actor revealed that he is often viewed as a "wild card choice, in a room of Caucasian guys".

In a voice of frustration Massoud says "People have these ideas in their head. I'm sitting here being like, OK, Aladdin just hit $1 billion. Can I at least get an audition?".

You can catch Massoud in the Hulu TV series called "Reprisal"-  which he secured before Aladdin was released.
