Egypt release nurses, man accused of filming femicide victim Naira Ashraf's dead body
Egypt has released two nurses and a young man accused of filming and spreading videos online of the dead body of femicide victim Naira Ashraf, after they paid a fine of 70,000 Egyptian pounds each.

A prosecutor's office inÌýÌýhasÌýreleased two nurses and a young man accused of Ìýof the dead body of femicide victim Naira Ashraf.

The South Mansoura Public Prosecution Office decided on Tuesday to after they paid bail of 70,000 Egyptian pounds ($3,655) each, after the clips – showing the victim’s stab wounds - leaked online.

Ashraf was brutally murdered by her classmate Mohamed Adel on 20 June outside the Mansoura college campus after she had repeatedly turned down his marriage proposals.

Her killing sparked mass outrage across Egypt.

After video emergedÌý showing her body in a morgue at the Mansoura general hospitalÌýAshraf’s father filed a complaint against the facility.

The Ministry of Interior saidÌýthe video was made onÌýJune 20.

A court in Mansoura initially sentenced the three accused individuals to six months in prison and a fine of 50,000 thousand Egyptian pounds ($2,610) each. The court acquitted a fourth defendant – also a nurse – in the case.

Authorities attended the hospital to review CCTV footage and documents concerning Ashraf, including information aboutÌýthe medical staff who dealt with her, before they summoned the staff for questioning.

The prosecution also commissioned specialised technology officers to examine links online and identify those responsible for sharing the video.

Last month, an Egyptian courtÌýsentenced Adel, who confessed to Ashraf’s horrific killing, to death by hanging.
