Egyptian football player won the 19th Golden Foot  recognising lifetime achievement in football on Monday.

forward Salah did not go on stage to accept the award in Monaco despite attending the ceremony. His wife Magi Sadeq accepted the award on his behalf instead for reasons he has not yet disclosed.

The award, established in 2003 under the patronage of Prince Albert II of Monaco, is among the football world's most prestigious accolades.

The Egyptian striker now sits among football legends who have won the fan-voted award, including , Luca Modrić, and .

Ten players were nominated for this year's award including Lionel Messi, Romelu Lukaku, Neymar, and Sergio Ramos.

Salah's sporting successes have  of  goals of any African footballer, scoring 107 goals in total.

The Liverpool star was also recently  by a panel of experts from men's and women's football, and described as the best player in the world by his team's manager Jurgen Klopp last month.
